2008 JNF Negev Dinner

Each year, the Jewish National Fund honours those who have made a difference in their community while also raising funds for worthy projects. We are proud that this year's dinner paid tribute to Shalom Village.

Wake up the garden!

Last year at Light up the Future Too you helped us raise almost $40,000 to refurbish the gardens at Shalom Village. Now that the long winter is finally over the transformation made possible by that support is evident as you walk through our gardens.

Residents, staff and volunteers came together on May 21st to "Wake up the Garden", transforming our outside spaces into a magical place to enjoy the sunshine, feel the earth and smell the flowers. New garden furniture and umbrellas are now in place and flowers are blooming everywhere.

There is more to come. Plans have been made and a contractor has been hired to create an accessible space on the north side of Shalom Village near the Goldie’s entrance. Watch for details.

Bubbies to Grandmothers

The Bubbies, or Grandmothers, of Shalom Village created a journal featuring their words of wisdom. Proceeds from sales of Bubbies to Grandmothers journals are helping grandmothers in Africa raise their grandchildren who have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. Over 13 million children in Africa have lost their parents as this epidemic has virtually decimated an entire generation.

The journals are only $10. and can be purchased at Shalom Village or ordered by e-mail at info@shalomvillage.on.ca. The funds raised support the Stephen Lewis Foundation's efforts in Africa. See a short video about the project below.

2007 SHALOM Awards

The SHALOM Awards are presented to Shalom Village staff members based on ballots cast by staff, residents, families and volunteers. Congratulations to the 2007 winners!
