Levy Solutions @ Shalom Village encompasses all technology and communication functions, including network administration, creating and maintaining our website, administering e-mail, developing and updating databases and maintaining equipment.

Named for founder John Levy, who wanted to improve the lives of older adults through technology, Levy Solutions aims to give caregivers the tools they need to track information that will flag developments and suggest actions that may lead to improvements in care practices.

Technology can help loved ones keep in touch

We also help older adults learn computer skills, research areas of personal interest, and keep in touch with family in distant locations. A number of residents have connected to our network in their homes or made use of computers in our library. Most of our rooms are pre-wired for access to our network, and other areas have wireless access. We expect more of our residents to take advantage of this service in the future.

The Shalom Village Grapevine is published monthly.

Another goal is to effectively communicate Shalom Village's vision to donors, staff, volunteers, residents, families, other organizations, media, and funding / legislative bodies. The past year has seen a focus on creating a strong visual identity for Shalom Village by building a consistent style for all of our publications and documents. Expect to see further developments in this area.

There has also been an increased commitment to communication, including monthly publication of our newsletter, the Grapevine and other documents aimed at specific groups such as volunteers and donors. A free e-mail news service is available to those who would like to receive information and newsletters by e-mail. Levy Solutions is representing long term care on the steering committee developing the eHealth project for the Ministry of Health and Long term Care. The project's mandate is to develop a strategy for coordinating information and communication technologies to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness, access, quality and safety within the healthcare community. It is a great opportunity to have a voice in decisions that may have a significant impact on the future administration of long term care and to advocate for issues that are unique to older adults.
