Volunteers at Shalom Village Volunteers help us make every day at Shalom Village a day well lived. Our goal is to encourage volunteer development in a way that helps Shalom Village achieve our mission and provide a rewarding experience for volunteers, making them feel valued. Our volunteer team is a diverse, all-ages group that includes residents, family members, students, retired people and other motivated community members. Why Volunteer? Whether you want to support a worthy cause or to develop as a person, volunteering offers many benefits. What do Volunteers Do? Volunteers at Shalom Village wear many hats. They answer telephones, work at the reception areas and help with programs, outings and appointments. Others help with friendly visits, monthly Shabbat services, and multi-faith church services. Some volunteers work in Bubbi Bessie's Cafe or our Corner Store gift shop. Click on the hat for some other possibilities. Congratulations to Cathy McDowell, Shalom Village's popular Coordinator of Volunteers, who has been nominated for a Service Award for Geriatric Excellence (SAGE). SAGE celebrates the accomplishments of those who are passionate and committed to improving the quality of life for seniors in the regions of Brant, Halton, Hamilton, Haldimand and Norfolk, Niagara, Waterloo and Wellington-Dufferin. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel & Conference Centre in Niagara Falls on May 7, 2010. Congratulations Cathy. We're all proud of you!
