Volunteers at Shalom Village

Volunteers  help us make every day at Shalom Village a day well lived. Our goal is to encourage volunteer development in a way that helps Shalom Village achieve our mission and provide a rewarding experience for volunteers, making them feel valued. Our volunteer team is a diverse, all-ages group that includes residents, family members, students, retired people and other motivated community members.

Why Volunteer?

People volunteer for many reasons. Some people volunteer to:

  • support a cause they believe in

  • develop skills and gain work experience

  • build self-esteem and self-confidence

  • meet new people

  • make a difference in someone's life

  • express gratitude for help they have received in the past

  • meet volunteer requirements for educational programs

Whether you want to support a worthy cause or to develop as a person, volunteering offers many benefits.

What do Volunteers Do?

Volunteers at Shalom Village wear many hats. They answer telephones, work at the reception areas and help with programs, outings and appointments. Others help with friendly visits, monthly Shabbat services, and multi-faith church services. Some volunteers work in Bubbi Bessie's Cafe or our Corner Store gift shop. Click on the hat for some other possibilities.

We are currently looking for dedicated and qualified volunteers to fill the following positions:

Bookmobile Team
Every other Tuesday. Work with Hamilton Public Library staff  to help residents choose books.

Bubbi Bessie's Cafe Team
Mondays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Do you like to prepare tasty treats for others and socialize? Work with Noreen and her great team

Therapeutic Touch Team
Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Work with therapeutic touch practitioners to bring residents and families to the snoezelen room.
