Long Term and Respite Care
Levy Long Term Care at Shalom Village
Original and Gould Long Term Care at Shalom Village Too
Long Term Care
Homes, once more commonly known as nursing homes,
are licensed by the Ontario Ministry oh Health and Long Term Care. Shalom
Village is also fully accredited by the Canadian Council on Health
Services
Accreditation.
Shalom
Village welcomes residents of all faiths, and provides nursing and personal care
on a 24-hour basis. Care is supervised by registered nurses, and we have a staff
doctor to guide the medical care of our residents. Our staff, with the support
of our Dementia Care Specialist, are all specially trained to help those with
cognitive impairments get the most out of life. Complex care including gastric
tubes, oxygen and IV are all available at Shalom.
Short term, or respite care is available for those recovering from surgery or
other health conditions, or to provide a break to caregivers at home.
What makes Shalom Village different is our unique
"AT HOME" approach to care. Our goal is to help people maintain their
quality of life as they move home to Shalom. While an individual may need
assistance with some
activities of daily living, there are many other
life experiences that they have come to value, and we aim to provide
opportunities for them to continue to participate in activities that have
meaning to them. We believe that everyone should be able to live in a home where
they are valued, can live with dignity, and have the opportunity to remain a
vital part of their community.
Shalom Village's
hospitality department serves appetizing kosher meals in pleasant dining rooms, including breakfast,
lunch, supper and snacks between meals and at bedtime. Our chefs work with a
registered dietician to provide special diets and dietary supplements as
required.
Our Community Centre
offers a wide variety of social and recreational programs. Everyone is
encouraged to participate in activities suited to their individual interests.
All residents have access to The Club fitness centre, the Snoezelen, and many
innovative entertainment and therapeutic opportunities. We are able to provide
accessible transportation to all residents for outings. Activities
such as Samuel's Bistro, our fine dining kosher restaurant, and the Hanukkah
Hustle 5k run, are among the many events that bring the larger community to
Shalom Village, helping to make it a more vital place to live, work and visit.
